Useless program

There are only three choices for the Canon camera; you have no real input as to what camera or ISO setting you are using; every 4-5 seconds, another ad pops up disrupting your use of the program, no matter how many times you decline a purchase for the same item. Very annoying as an app. Developer doesn't know the difference between the word add (a verb) and ad, short for advertisement: this should be a red flag right here.Absolutely useless as a tool for the professional. Erased my copy: I already have a calculator.

Easy to use, does what it says

This is a very simple and easy to use app that does just what it's advertised to do. Well made and the layout is nice. Also - it looks like the "about" section needs to be finished.Good app all around.

As advertised.

Works as advertised and is a serious convenience to use while doing long exposures. Thanks.

Usefully but niche tool

If your lens is supported, this is a useful tool to have if you do a lot of night time photography. That being said, it's an oddly specific tool if you don't do a lot of night time photography. Works as advertised, would like to see support for more lenses.

Free version pops up full screen ads every few seconds.

For a super simple app that merely divides 500 (or 600) by your lens's focal length, it presents a constant bombardment of full screen ads. Literally every click, swipe, or pause of more than two seconds results in a fullscreen popup ad. Pathetic.

Why the hate?

This app is amazing and simple to use. I’ve never had an issue with adds and I’ve been using this for about 1.5 years. Love it!

Thanks developer

This is an excellent application, not cluttered with unnecessary things like other apps with similar purpose. Easy to use and understand, essential for photographers at every level of experience.

Literally unusable

No matter what you are doing, a full screen ad takes over the screen every 12 seconds. Sometimes you can immediately dismiss it, other times you have to watch the first few seconds of a video ad, and still other times you have to wait quite a while to dismiss an ad.I’m serious. I timed it. Every twelve seconds. And the worst part: these ads happen even during the “first launch” tutorial. It took me several minutes to get through the short, 4-screen tutorial because ads kept taking over before I could finish reading each step.Literally unusable. If the developer had this little regard for my experience during the tutorial of what amounts to the trial version, there’s no way I’m paying to find out of the rest of the app actually works well.

Nathan Stryker is a Moron for developing this crap

Every 7 seconds an ad pops up, then it won’t let you close the ad for several more seconds. This is a completely useless application. The 1.4 stars should tell Nathan that this application is a failure. Save your time, don’t bother with this waste of time. Shameful. This should not even be available on the App Store.

Great little tool

It's stupid simple which is great. My only issue is on the Watch app there's no indicator to which section you're adjusting.

Description

Night time photography consistantly produces some of the most stunning photographs on the planet. Dark Skies is here to help you optimize those photographs. The longer you expose a digital camera sensor to light the more photons it is able to detect, thus the longer you can expose your cameras sensor to the night sky, the more stars you will see in the pictures.

There is a catch though, because the earth is moving, if you expose the camera too long the stars will blur, when done intentionally this effect can be stunning, but sometimes that is not the desired result. To use Dark Skies, simply select your Camera, and the focal legnth of your lense, and Dark Skies will use the 600 rule to calculate how long of an exposure you can have. Thanks for downloading Dark Skies...
